Gathering resources and materials is a vital activity in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, as it plays a critical role in crafting weapons, upgrading gear & abilities, and general progress in the game.
There are plenty of materials in the game, such as wood, minerals, consumables (potions & food), and recipes. Among them, wood is quite a useful material, as it is used in a variety of crafting recipes.
There is plenty of wood in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, or at least, it is visible throughout the gameplay. The problem is you can’t simply gather it. Just like all the other resources in the game require a special tool, wood also requires a Woodcutter’s axe. And no, you can’t get wood in Tainted Grail by simply chopping down the wood.
In this guide, I will explain how players can gather wood in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon and how to get the Woodcutter’s Axe.
Woodcutting Axe Location in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

After you reach the beach early on in the game, take the road on the west and travel north from the forking path. It will lead you to Ruined Market Square. Once you are there, you need to find a man near the huge corpse in the center. Head to the southeast corner, and you’ll find him inside a building; kill him and grab his axe. Now you have an axe with you.
You can also buy a woodcutting axe from a vendor named Orlaith. You can find him near the keep’s main gate in the Horns of the South. It costs you 16 Gold, but it is a far better option if you don’t want to fight the hostile villagers in the Ruined Market Space.
Where can you get Wood in Tainted Grail

The biggest surprise in Tainted Grail when it comes to gathering wood is that you can’t fell trees to gather wood. Players need to look for specific Lumbering locations, which are like chopping blocks for wood. You can go to one located in the Horns of the South. The exact location is right in front of Keeper Barracks’ archery range.
Lumbering Spots in Tainted Grail have a limited number of logs that you can gather. One swing of the axe provides 3 Wood. If you are looking to gather more wood without paying anything extra, set up a camp right beside the Lumbering Spot and you can get more wood from the same spot as it is replenished every 24 hours.
You can also get Wood during your exploration in Avalon, or it is often found in chests and crates. Some blacksmith NPCs also sell wood at a reasonable price.
How is Wood Used in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Wood has many uses in the game. It is used for crafting axes, spears, arrows, and shields. If you are focusing on Handcrafting skills, you need to be at the top of your crafting game.
Surprisingly, you can also sell Wood for 1 Gold each piece. This is a painfully slow but proven method to earn as much gold as you can by gathering wood from Lumbering Spots.
