When we are playing on Asus ROG Ally, most of its games are run through Steam. However, there are other ways to play, other stores and client. For example, if you installed Epic Games on ROG Ally then you’ll launch your games through that or if you using GOG then your games will run through GOG.
Launching into each client is a hassle even on PC, so the same is the case on ROG Ally and Ally X as well.

How to setup Playnite on the Asus ROG Ally
The process is pretty easy, and it usually takes less than five minutes to setup Playnite on Asus ROG Ally and ROG Ally X.
Open your favorite browser on your ROG Ally handheld and go to the official Playnite website. When you are on the homepage click on the Download button to download the Playnite installer.
Run the installer and that’s it! You now have Playnite on your Asus ROG Ally and ROG Ally X devices.
Launch the Playnite app and you will be presented with multiple options for different gaming clients.
Select each client you have and then authenticate your account for each launcher to import your games from Steam, EA, Game Pass, Ubisoft Connect, and others into Playnite.
How to Add Xbox Game Pass Games to Playnite
Click on the controller icon in the top left corner, navigate to Add-ons, then Browse, and then Generic.
You should now see an Xbox logo in the right panel; install it and click save.
You should now see an Xbox logo on the left side panel. Entire game pass library will be shown here. Click on the games you want to add and select Add to Playnite Library.
Now you can install those games from your Playnite Library.

How to manually add games
Click on the controller icon on the top left corner and select Add Game and then select Scan automatically. Now select the Scan Folder option and browse to scan the location where your games are.
How to change artwork
Right the game and then click on edit. Select Download Metadata at the bottom left and click on IGDB. Select the game and then the artwork you want to add.
How to install custom themes on Playnite
Click on the controller icon on the top left corner and then click on Add-ons > Browse > Themes Fullscreen. Select the theme you like (hover over it to see screenshots of the theme) and install it before clicking on save. Go to Fullscreen Mode > Settings and then change the theme to the one who installed.
