It is not every day that you see a multiplayer game being modded but players not getting banned. Marvel Rivals can be modded to change character designs and so far, developers have only asked players to be cautions as it can damage game files.
But if you are here to learn how to mod Marvel Rivals know that a ban hammer is inevitable and if they ban on a hardware level, you are done for good!
So, I don’t recommend that you mod Marvel Rivals even though right now there aren’t any consequences to it.
How to Mod Marvel Rivals on PC
While you can manually install mods, using a mod manager simplifies the process. You can download the Marvel Rivals Mod Manager from Nexus Mods. It is the simplest way to download and install mods for the game, but you can do them manually as well.
Before installing mods on Marvel Rivals make sure you know where the game directory is because that is where we are going to add our mod files.
Depending on whether you have Marvel Rivals installed via Steam or Epic Games, the game directory path will differ slightly:
- For Steam:
- Open your Steam library.
- Right-click on Marvel Rivals.
- Select Manage > Browse local files.
- For Epic Games:
- Open the Epic Games Launcher.
- Find Marvel Rivals in your library.
- Click on the three dots next to it, then select Manage and click on the folder icon next to the installation path.
Inside the game directory, navigate through the following path:
MarvelRivals\MarvelGame\Marvel\Content\Paks
In the Paks folder, create a new folder named ~mods (including the tilde ~
at the beginning is really important).

Visit Nexus Mods to browse available Marvel Rivals mods and download the ones you like. You’ll need to create a free account to download them.
- For example, if you want to download a mod like “Big Smoke as The Punisher”:
- Click on the mod’s page.
- Go to the Files tab and select Manual Download.
Once you have a mod downloaded use an unzip software like WinRAR or 7-Zip and extract the files in the downloads folders for now.
Inside the extracted folder locate a ‘.pak’ file and copy it to the ~mods folder we created earlier.

If you have the mod manager installed launch that first to manage installed mods, if not, just run the game directly.
You can disable or remove mods through the mods manager or by removing the ‘.pak’ files you add to the ~mods folder.
