Modding is one of the most amazing experiences of PC gaming. And most games that comes to PC support modding, Civilization 7 is no different. In Civ 7 you can mod to add new features, make quality of life adjustments, and do some funny things at the same time.
But how? How exactly do you mod this game?
Seasoned modders would already know how modding works as it is no different in Civilization 7 but if you are new to the process, then I will break it down for you.
How to Install Civ 7 Mods
First, you need to find a website that offers Civilization 7 mods. At the time of this writing, mods Civ 7 mods are available from the Civ Fanatics website, but I am sure as the time goes by, we will see more mods hitting the Nexus mods website.
Rest assured, no matter where you download your mods the process remains the same.
I downloaded the mods from the Civ Fanatics website. One of the most popular mods over there is the Sukritact’s Simple UI Adjustments mod for Civ 7.
So, let’s use that for this guide.
Click on the download button on the top right corner of the Civ Fanatics forum or if you are on Nexus Mods, create an account and download the files from the “files” tab on the mod page.
The files end up in your downloads forlder.
What’s great about Civilization 7 is that there is already a mods folder created inside AppData folder by the developers.
All you need to do is copy and paste mod files inside that folder. By default, the mods folder is in the following path on Windows:
C://users/<your pc name>/AppData/Local/FiraxisGames/SidMeier’sCivilizationVII/Mods.
If this folder is not here, then well, you have to find it manually in C or if it is created in the installation drive for some reason.

Before copy pasting unzip the folder and then copy that inside the mods folder. You can use WinRAR or 7Zip to unzip files on your PC.
Simply drag the overall folder because adding one file at a time won’t work. The entire unzipped folder needs to be inside the mods folder for Civ 7 mods to work properly.
How to Check If Mods are Properly Installed
Boot up Civilization 7 and go to “Additional Settings” menu on the main menu scree. Select the “Mods” tab to see which mods are currently running in the game.
