Where Winds Meet is a massive game and with each new update, more content is added by the developers, including new factions. Velvet Shade (aka Floral Reverie) is the game’s newest faction, parked in Kaifeng’s Revelry Hall.
Members of this faction are like spies in silk and prefer manipulation to brawls. They don’t have loyalty to anyone but themselves. Joining the Velvet Shade faction gets you new quests and moves like Vernal Umbrella (Spring Sorrow, Apricot Heaven, Unfading Flower), sect currency, and upcoming Flower Rankings for bragging rights. You can join multiple sects and swap freely, so no FOMO.
There are some prerequisites to joining the Velvet faction in Where Winds Meet. Your character must be level 10+ and complete Shadows in Bloom and Gathering of Heroes (side quests in Kaifeng).
After that, Velvet Shade should pop into your sect menu in Where Winds Meet.

How to Join Velvet Shade Sect in Where Winds Meet
There are two ways to join this faction but only one of the methods has a 100% chance of working.
Marriage/Divorce Method (100%)
To join the Velvet Shade sect in Where Winds Meet, you need to marry and divorce twice in 7 days. This “intentional” troll mechanic ties into the sect’s anti-marriage views. You can grab a friend or ask a rando on Discord, or even create an alt account by logging into two devices or using our proven method of creating multiple accounts on the same PC.
When you have a partner to marry, go to the Social menu > Select player > Initiate partnership. Then go to the Crimson Cliff and speak with Shi Yimo to take your vows.
Then you need to get divorced.
Speak with Shi Yimo again and Sever the partnership. Now wait for 24 hours and return to Shi Yimo to finalize the divorce for 50K coins. Get divorced twice and the Invitation letter lands in the mail/inventory (“love lasts one night”).
Choose Join or “I’ll think about it” deletes it forever. Lastly, just speak with Qin Ruolan to join the Velvet Shade sect.
Elegance Points Grind (Buggy – Avoid for Now)
The second method is reaching 1700 to 4000 “Pure Jade” Elegance on Global servers. CN servers work at 800 to 2000. Fill all slots like hair, outfits, accessories, capes, weapon skins, and even pet cats everywhere you see to get points.
The Velvet Shade sect invitation letter will arrive eventually but it takes a lot of grind to them this done. Hence, I recommend using the first method, getting divorced twice, as it has a higher success rate.
What Do You Get For Joining Velvet Shade
