The lack of endgame content in Dune: Awakening has led to players abandoning their bases. However, as the current players reach the endgame, they are seeing a lot of abandoned bases.

This has also been mentioned by players at different forums and communities. The question that comes to mind is, can you loot these abandoned bases in Dune: Awakening? Yes, you can, and I have compiled a guide to help you do that.

Zone / ScenarioHow to Loot
PvE – Abandoned & Console OffImmediate access to chests; console destroyed; can claim and loot
PvE – Decaying, Console OnWait for structural collapse; loot debris or dropped items
PvP – Shield Down (Storm or Decay)Raid when shields drop—grab loot quickly before base resets or disappears

How to Identify an Abandoned Base

PvE Zones: Hagga Basin and Similar Areas

In PvE zones, bases are generally protected against direct raiding. You cannot simply break in while they’re active. If the base owner chooses to abandon their base via the map option, the base console is immediately destroyed. Within about 12 hours, the base fully despawns. At this point:

  • You can place your own sub-fief console to claim the land.
  • You can loot chests and storage.
  • You cannot access fabrication tables.

On the other hand, if the base owner just leaves without using the option to abandon the base, the console will start to decay, the shield drops, and sandstorms gradually destroy the base.

The loot inside the abandoned base becomes accessible at that point after enough damage is done to the base, and the building has collapsed. This process can take some days or even weeks to complete in some cases.

Deep Desert and High-Risk Areas

Base looting is a bit more dynamic in PvP zones. Shields can drop during storms or when the power is out, making the whole thing vulnerable. When the shields are down, you can enter the base and loot freely.

Forward outposts in PvP areas are wiped weekly by storms, making them temporary by design. When trying to loot an abandoned base in any PvP area make sure to prepare for a fight because other players might be trying to do the same.

How to Loot Abandoned Bases in Dune: Awakening

looting abandoned bases in Dune Awakening

The abandoned bases in Hagga Basin are pretty much lootable, but there is a problem that they are still protected even if the players have left. There are security measures in place, and before you can loot the abandoned bases you’ll have to get rid of all security measures.

This is done by destroying the Sub-Fief Console for the base.

All bases have a Sub-Fief Console, and you need to find it and destroy it if you want to gain control of the abandoned base. As you might already know that a Sub-Fief Console cannot be destroyed by a player, you will have to get a mob to do it for you.

Once you find the Fief of the base, you can either wait for it to decay or run it down with the help of a mob. Decaying takes a lot of time, and this has been mentioned by many players on various forums as well.

The base usually decays from top to bottom, and you will have to wait for a lot of time before you can actually loot it.

If you want to find the decay rate, you can do that with the help of the building tool. Swap to repair, and you can see the health on different items. This will tell you how long it will take, and it will literally make it impossible to loot the stuff inside the base.

So, the only logical way is to find a mob to destroy the Fief. The easiest type of mob you can pull are Rushers. These guys aggro and leash much further than other types of enemies in Dune: Awakening.

Here is a tip from my side that will help you get them to do your work. The Rushers can’t reach you if you are flying or if you are propped up on something. And if you want the Fief to be destroyed quickly, hide behind it so the enemy’s attack targets the Fief.

Once the Fief is destroyed, plant your own console immediately so the base becomes yours. You can also farm your unused items at the base that you have acquired.

If you don’t place your Sub-Fief Console immediately, enemy players may try to put theirs.

How to Protect Your Base from Being Raided in Dune: Awakening?

All the bases that are powered down can be raided by other players. If you want to protect your base from being raided, make sure that it is powered.

To do this, go to your Fief Console and click “Refuel Generators,” as this will spread power to all your resources. At the same screen, you can also see how much time you have left until the power of your base goes down completely.
