While we hope HoYoPlay will be fixed soon but the latest updates to the game don’t make any improvements to the launcher. ZZZ version 1.4 is one of the biggest updates for the game but due to the game’s launcher players are experiencing file corruption, resets, and crashes.
The solution here is to not use the launcher at all to update Zenless Zone Zero to version 1.4.
How to Manually Update to Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.4
To update the game from 1.3 to 1.4 you need to down the update files but also at least one audio pack. The best option here to use the audio pack for the language of your Windows.
If your default Windows language is English than download the English audio pack.

Let me give you a summary of the process in case you’re familiar with tinkering with system files already and don’t need a full run down.
- Start ZZZ launcher and start the update 1.4 (Pre install or update)
- Pause the update after 5-10 seconds
- Close the launcher
- Delete temporary download files (audio and game)
- Replace the downloaded update files and audio pack
- Open the launcher and restart the update to complete
Now let’s go with through the entire process in more detail.
Open the Zenless Zone Zero game launcher aka HoYoPlay. Depending on what is being shown to you, click on “Pre-Install” or “Update.”
When the update starts wait for 5-10 seconds before you pause it by clicking on the tiny play button.
Now we need to replace the game file and audio pack. Download the game file and audio pack from the links I shared above and replace the two with the ones you’ll find in ZenlessZoneZeroGame folder.
There are a lot of files in this folder so you can use the “Date Modified” find to find the latest files. The files we are looking for have “ZIP_TMP” extensions.
Delete the audio pack and game file from the folder and then replace the Zip files we downloaded from the links above.
Resume the download and Zenless Zone Zero will be updated manually to the new version.
