Warframe’s new 1999 update was already a great game I played over the holiday season but what made it even better was the mini game called Caliber Chicks 2.

This retro style platforming shooter brought me back to the old NES and SEGA genesis days. Remember Contra? Caliber Chicks 2 is pretty close to that.

To start Caliber Chicks 2 in Warframe 1999, you need to make your way to the Hollvania Central Mall arcade to meet up with Amir.

How to Play Caliber Chicks 2

The game operates in an endless mode where your score increases with the number of enemies you defeat. Each playthrough consists of three extensive levels filled with various enemies and obstacles.

After completing the levels, players are sent back to the start, but with new challenges and enemy placements.

When the game starts you need to choose between Jillian or Lillian, one of the Caliber Chicks.

Your health, remaining lives, and the amount of super weapon charges you have are shown at the top right while your current score is on the top left.

If you consume all of your lives levels will reset, and you will start again from level 1-3.

Each level has a boss at the end and beating it leads into the next level. If you beat all three levels, you can start from level 1 with higher difficulty.

Amir will gift you some glyphs of the Killians once you beat Stage 3 for the first time.

Each time you loop, the following will happen:

  1. Enemies deal contact damage (yellow shield indicator)
  2. Enemy bullets are larger
  3. Ranged enemies attack faster (not sure about this one)
  4. Enemies have double health
  5. No powerups/pickups

Beating Loop 5 will end the game and have Amir send you the President King Corgi Emblem.

How to Win Caliber Chicks 2

If you are familiar with retro platform shooters then you will have no trouble winning in Caliber Chicks 2.

As you progress in the game you will get your hands on some pickups that really help in beat tougher enemies:

  • Weapon – Flamethrower, Laser Rifle, Rocket Launcher
  • Power-ups – Med-Packs, Force-Field Shields, Super Weapon Charges

Keep an eye on enemy projectiles because the game is all about predicting and avoiding enemy projectiles.
