Recruiting tribesmen in Soulmask is your way to expanding your camp. To recruit tribesmen, you need to find Barbarians and Outcasts, who are typically found around the world at specific locations.
- Ruins: These are scattered throughout the map and often serve as camps for groups of enemies.
- Barracks: Similar to Ruins, Barracks spots are marked on your map and house groups of Barbarians and Outcasts.
Tip: Be cautious when approaching these spots, as they usually contain multiple enemies. It’s advisable to lure one enemy away from the group by shooting at them from a distance to engage them individually.

How to Deter and Recruit Characters
The process of recruiting a character involves deterring them in battle and then gaining their trust. Fight the character you want to recruit until their health drops to about 20%. If you’re wearing the conquest mask, things will go much smoother.
When the character’s health is low enough, an option to deter will appear on your screen. Press E to activate the motion, grab onto them, and use your mask to comatose them.
Once comatose, the character will be prone on the ground for a short time. Approach them and press E to open their inventory. Drag over any liquid food items, such as soup or broth, into their inventory slots. Hover over the food item and press E to make them eat it.
Tip: Make sure you have a good supply of liquid foods like broth or soup to feed potential recruits.
Feed the character until their Recognition stat reaches 500. Once this stat is high enough, the option to recruit will become available.
If you have open tribe slots, press E to recruit the character to your tribe. However, keep track of your tribe slots to make sure you have space for new recruits.
What Can Tribesmen Do?
Tribesmen play a vital role in building a thriving base and gathering essential materials. Each character has different proficiencies.
- Harvesting Items: Efficiently gather resources like wood, stone, and food.
- Crafting: Create tools, weapons, and other items.
- Combat: Accompany you into battle and provide additional combat support.
Tip: Regularly train and upgrade your tribesmen to improve their skills.
You can assign jobs to your tribesmen based on their skills to get the best quality work. Additionally, you can use the special feature of your mask to possess any tribesman. Once you unlock the Control repair node for your mask, you can take control of any of your tribesmen and utilize their skills directly.
