In Code Vein 2 saving Holly is one of the longest side missions. Completing it is required for the secret ending and also acts as a prerequisite for saving Jose. In this guide, I will break the questline down step by step but know that there are sections that are very long and we won’t really be going too deep into them and a birds eye view instead.

You begin Holly’s quest during the main story once you reach the Undead Forest area.

Start the Questline in the Withered Greenhouse

Holly’s quest begins naturally as part of the main story once you reach the Undead Forest region. While progressing through the area, you’ll eventually pass through the Plagued Village. Just outside the village is a Greenhouse, and inside it you’ll find Holly’s cocoon.

Interacting with the cocoon triggers a timeline jump, but unlike other timeline shifts, this one fails. Instead of arriving at the intended point in time, you awaken in the past inside the Sanatorium.

Here, you’ll meet Holly in person for the first time. Speaking with her formally starts the quest.

Healing Holly

Holly will ask you to heal using the Hot Springs. You must visit two Hot Springs before returning to the cave Hot Spring where you will encounter the Resurgence Zealot boss.

After beating the boss fight the next section of the quest starts.

Meeting Liquorice

Holly's pathos locations in Code Vein 2

You will meet Liquorice and travel with her to the Undead Forest. There three different locations you will visit with her and each is a long section of the game with its own boss fights, enemies, puzzles etc.

  • Forest Complex
  • Amusement Park
  • Abandoned Church

You must fully clear all three areas and defeat their bosses to move forward. At each of the aforementioned locations you will a Holly’s pathos that must be defeated to progress.

After clearing all three areas and all three Holly’s pathos head back to the greenhouse where you will fight Hero Holly the Reaper boss in Code Vein 2. Interact with Holly’s cocoon, this triggers the boss fight against Hero Holly the Reaper.

This is the point in the game where the timeline shift decision really starts with Holly. Speak with Monica after the boss fight and she explains how you need to collect Camillo’s remnants.

Finding Camilo’s Remnants

Camillo’s Remnants aka Camillo’s Pathos are found at the Ruined Town and Sanatorium. You don’t have to do anything special at these locations. Simply defeat all enemies in the area and you will get Camillo’s Remnants.

Once all remnants are collected, you can attempt to repair the Blood Code.

Boss Fight: Retainer of Idris

Once the Blood Code is repaired you can head back to the greenhouse and activate the Faded Bond to repair the timeline. However, just like before something goes wrong and you’re pulled into another boss fight with Retainer of Idris.

The boss isn’t particularly hard to beat but it does take some time to defeat him. Retainer of Idris can only take damage on its tentacles. Direct attacks on his body do no damage. The best approach is to stay away and keep your distance, wait for attacks that expose the tentacles, and punish during those openings. Ranged weapons, particularly the bow and arrow, work especially well here.

Taking down Retainer of Idris will stabilize the timeline.

Chasing Camilo & Restoring the Sanatorium

After meeting Holly in the past you will have to chase Camilo through the underground labs in the Sanatorium. At the end of the chase you will fight him.

Defeating Camilo will restore the Sanatorium when you arrive. The cocoon outside the Sanatorium is where you will find Holly. Inside the entrance, you can pick up an important item needed for Jose’s quest.

Outside the restored Sanatorium entrance is Holly’s cocoon.

  • Interact with it one final time
  • Defeat Holly in her last boss fight

Completing this fight fully saves Holly and finalizes her questline.

Don’t Miss the Item for Jose’s Quest

It is important to make sure you don’t miss Jose’s quest item inside the restored Sanatorium. Otherwise, you won’t be able to pursue the secret Code Vein 2.
