How To Solve Hydro Puzzle In Dying Light: The Beast

In Dying Light: The Beast side quest or main quest help your progress in the game. After completing the main quest Power Gambit, Pietro asks you to help with another problem, Hydro Puzzle. The water supply to the Town Hall is cut off and Pietro needs your help in this matter.

Hydro puzzle is quite lengthy side quest that involves a bit of twist in the main story as well. Here is how you can solve the puzzle step by step and easily.

How To find chief engineer in dying light : The beast

After talking to Pietro, follow the marker point on the map and head to Industrial pumping station and check the main cause of water cut off.

The place is swarmed with the infected, so run and find a way inside. Go around the fence from the right and enter into the pumping station from a broken window beside the car.

Check The pressure inside pumping station

Once you are inside the building the next objective is to check the water pressure inside the pumping station. Kill some zombies and make your way to the pumping station to your left. The pump pressure is fine and everything is working normally. So you discuss this with Pietro over the radio.

Pietro is off the point the problem might be somewhere between the Town Hall and pumping station, for that you need schematics for the water system if the city. Pietro tells you to find the schematics of the water system from the Engineer’s office at the water work facility. The water work repair facility is located near the bridge just outside the old town.

Check the industrial pumping station if you want for any loot items, there are many so make sure to check the area before leaving. Exit the building from the main gate that was locked from the inside and head to the waterworks repair facility to find the blueprints of the water system from the engineer’s office.

How to Find The Engineer’s Office

The entrance door to the waterworks repair facility is locked from the inside. So don’t waste your time there just run and reach at the back side of the building. You can choose to fight the infected as well, but there are too many of them it’s better to just avoid and climb upwards from there to the roof of the building.

To get inside the building use the vents as mentioned in the image above. This path will lead you to an office in the waterworks facility. You will see the white arrow directing towards the engineer’s office. Before leaving this floor go to your left and pick the lock to enter the room. There is a journal for the engineer to your right on the table. Read that journal, and you will get the passcode to the safe. In that safe, there is the key to the engineer’s office.

The Journal is written to Engineer saying

FROM: Head of Security
Mr. Leiter,
Following up regarding your stolen wallet and key: our review of camera footage has identified the individual responsible as one of your employees. Appropriate disciplinary action, including possible termination, will be considered, and the incident will be reported to the authorities.
Regarding the duplicate key that was made, it has been secured in the payroll safe. For your security, the lock code has been changed to 27 01 15.

Location of Safe: The safe is in the same room where you were led after dropping from the vent of the room. Enter the passcode for the safe 27-01-15 and get the Engineer’s Office key.

Go out from the corridor to your left and exit the floor from the main door. The engineer office will be to your right downstairs. Before you can reach the office you will have to fight a big number of zombies to reach the office.

Now use the key that you got from the safe above and enter the office.

Tip: Pick the key from the safe when you are on that floor to save time.

Check The Sewer maintenance Point to restore water supply

After entering the engineer office you will see the blueprint to the water system. Contact Pietro and try to find the main issue due to which water is cut off to the Town Hall. Pietro suspects that if the pumping station is working fine than the only thing that is between the pumping station and the Town hall is, sewer maintenance pointed by S on the map. He will ask you to finally check that sewer maintenance point to solve the last piece of the puzzle.

After the conversation between you and Pietro ends, a new marker for the sewer point will appear on the map. Follow the marker and reach there to check the final and last part to complete the side quest Hydro Puzzle in Dying light The Beast.

The entrance to the sewer point is locked, pick the lock to enter. The water pressure is also working normally, and you inform about this to Pietro too. Just when you think it’s a dead end, you hear a rhythmic metal clanking sound coming from the basement go down to check what’s going on in there. Maybe there is a survivor!

Once you reach the sewers, follow the yellow pipe that carries the rhythmic metal clanking sound. Follow the path to your right straight and then into the vent.

Becarefull as the place is full of infected zombies, that in most cases you can’t even avoid. Follow the pipe until you reach the boiler area, clear the area and there is a door to your left.

That door will lead you to an open area with zombies guarding it. You can go unnoticed and follow the path as indicated by the arrow heads but once you find the source of the sound you need to clear the area. So it’s your choice that you can fight them before finding that source or after.

Quick Tip: Better clear the area before entering the room above.

Rescue Chief Engineer Damian From the Building

After clearing the area knock on the door and the survivor are the engineer Damian long with his son and wife, who got stuck here. Damian will tell you that he cut off the water supply to get some help from the Town hall, ask him to restore the water supply. Contact Pietro to rescue Damian the chief engineer and his family from there. At the end of the cutscene he will hand you the key to the main entrance so that the rescue don’t need to go through the sewers.

Lastly clear the way out for Damian’s family. Head out of the room and to your left open that door, and you will see current leakage on the floor. Go to the other side using the wall and cut the power off to clean the area.

After cutting the power off, look out for any infected left in the area and kill them. If you are not sure markers will indicate the presence of any infected zombies left in the area. Once the exit area is clear, you can head out of the building with Damian’s family to complete the Hydro Puzzle in Dying Light The Beast.
