After completing your first day at Hogwarts, where you will learn Lumos, Levioso, Accio and Reparo, it’s time for you to learn Ancient Magic during your visit to Hogsmeade. For this trip, you can choose Natsai Onai or Sebastian Sallow as your companion, but it won’t change the game’s outcomes. I went with Natty to visit Hogsmeade, but it doesn’t matter who you select.

How to Unlock Ancient Magic Throw in Hogwarts Legacy
To begin the quest, meet Natty at the entrance of Hogwarts. After a short cutscene where she will tell you about how Professor Weasley wanted her to take you to Hogsmeade. Follow Natty until you reach Hogsmeade.
You can also explore the surroundings if you are not hurrying to complete the quest. Some useful resources are available along the way to Hogsmeade, like Lacewing flies, Leaping Toadstool Caps, that is used for invisibility potion, and lastly, you also get the Moon Stone.
Lacewing Flies are primarily used to make Focus potion, which can reduce cool down time for different spells
After passing the Forbidden Forest, you will also meet Galdwin Moon, who looks a bit terrified because of Demiguise and asks you to go back. Anyway, you will continue your Journey towards Hogsmeade to learn the ancient magic throw.
After reaching Hogsmeade, the map will be added to the inventory, where you can buy/sell stuff according to your needs.
While you are at Hogsmeade, complete the following objectives:
- Visit Tomes and Scrolls to get spell crafts
- Visit Ollivanders to get a new wand
You go to Ollivander’s shop and create Hermione’s, Voldemort’s, Snape’s wand or any other according to your choice.
- Visit J. Pippin’s Potions to get potion recipes
- Visit The Magic Neep to get dittany seeds
After finishing all the objectives mentioned above, you will be rewarded with Ancient Magic throw along with ancient magic in Hogwarts Legacy. As practice, you will face your first troll in Hogwarts Legacy and use ancient magic to throw at him.
Why Use Ancient Magic Throw?
Ancient magic throw allows you to toss objects/barrels/boxes towards enemies, without using a spell slot, giving you an advantage during combats.
How To Master Ancient Magic Throw?
To unlock mastery of ancient magic, you require 1 talent point and level 5. After upgrading, you can break through any shield (blue, yellow, or red).
