How to Unlock and Refill Medkits in Hyper Light Breaker

Medkits in Hyper Light Breaker are your source to get back in the game at full HP. But if you are just starting out know that Medkits are no available at the start of the game and must be unlocked through a permanent upgrade for your Hyper Light Breaker character.

To unlock Medkits you first need to visit Pherus Bit in the Cursed Outpost. Here you need to interact with the NPC to unlock the Medkits by spending some of your hard-earned Golden Rations.

While interacting with Pherus Bit, navigate to the second menu to access the upgrade system. Purchase the Medkit Capacity upgrade (a Tier 1 EXE) to increase your Medkit storage from 0 to 1.

This allows you to carry one Medkit initially, with further upgrades possible as you progress your integration with Pherus Bit.

How to Refill Medkits

Now that you know how to unlock Medkits, let’s talk about how to refill them in Hyper Light Breaker. There two ways to refill Medkits:

1. Converting Medigems
2. Buying Medkits

Converting Medigems

Medkits can be exchanged with Medigems. These glowing green plants (resembling marshmallows on sticks) are scattered across the Overgrowth. Interact with them to collect Medigems, which also restore +5 HP when picked up.

Collect as many Medigems as you can because none of them will go to waste. At the start of your new run, your Medigems from the previous run are converted into Medkits.

• 1x Medkit Storage: 3x Medigems → 1x Medkit.
• 2x Medkit Storage: 6x Medigems → 2x Medkits.

But when inside the run you can exchange your Medigems for Medkits at the Shrines marked on your map. The first conversion at the shrine costs 5 Medigems, and subsequent ones cost 8 Medigems. Each run allows up to two Shrine refills.

Buying Medkits

Find Vendors in the Overgrowth who sell Medkits for Brightblood, a common resource dropped by enemies and crates but there some things you should keep in mind.

Vendors are often behind locked doors so you will have to find keys inside chests or by taking down Crown enemies.

Secondly, the vendor stock is randomized in Hyper Light Breaker so you may not always key a Medkit.

How to Carry More Medkits

Once you unlock the first Medkit slot you can continue to upgrade through Pherus Bit. Each new Medkit slot costs Golden Ration.
