The Gaze Mechanic in The King is Watching is what controls production of resources or units. Gaze decides which buildings are producing resources and units.
Such buildings only work when the King’s Gaze is on them so managing and upgrading gaze is key to a strong economy and defense. The Gaze for every king starts at three tiles but can be upgraded to a max of 6 tiles as The King is Watching.
Gaze should be one of the first things you invest your resources to increase production of resources and units.
How to Upgrade Gaze Fast in The King is Watching
Between each playthrough, after a run ends, you can spend resources in the Council’s upgrade screen to increase your starting gaze size for future attempts.
The Gaze update button is represented by a plus icon, next to the eye with the crown icon. Upgrading Gaze requires different resources depending on which King you have, but usually Gold is a common resource among the required materials. Other resources may include Wheat, Flour, Iron Ore, and Metal.

Inside a run, you move or rotate your gaze manually by holding the left mouse button and shifting the rectangular vision area; rotate it with the right mouse button. The best thing to do is cycle your gaze between resources, production, and troop buildings.
Buildings such as unit-producing barracks do not need to remain under your gaze once they’ve reached their unit limit, you only need to refocus if you want to produce more units.
Upgrading your Gaze allows you to run forge, gold mines, and unit training buildings at the same time. This will speed up your economy and triggers a sustained troop production. Upgraded Gaze to the max makes it easy to scale past Week 260.
Early gaze upgrades accelerate your production flow. This lets you, for example, sell ingots for gold while simultaneously training troops or researching new buildings, which snowballs your progress across a run.
I highly recommend to trade wheat for Gold as much as you can because Gold is the most common resource needed to upgrade Gaze. You can also produce Flour and Metal bars to earn Gold by selling them in the market.
