The entire gaming industry is incredibly excited for GTA 6, and Rockstar Games’ latest delay has been nothing but devastating for those anticipating the title. Between developers, content creators, and general audiences, practically everyone is looking to play GTA 6 as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the unpredictability of life means that not everyone currently looking forward to the game is guaranteed to play it once it arrives next year. Such is the case of Anthony Armstrong’s cancer-diagnosed relative, who has been given just 6-12 months to live. The developer, along with other industry members, is now asking Rockstar Games to allow this relative to play GTA 6 before the battle with cancer takes him away forever.

GTA 6 early access for Ubisoft developer's family member

Anthony Armstrong currently works as a developer for Ubisoft Toronto, and his latest LinkedIn post shares a sad update regarding a family member’s ongoing battle with cancer. Armstrong reveals that this family member has been given the worst possible news, leaving him with just 6-12 months to live.

The Ubisoft developer has urged any potential contacts at Rockstar Games to consider letting this family member play GTA 6 before its full release. He also noted that the cancer-diagnosed relative may not be able to survive till the retail GTA 6 launch.

In the comments, various gaming industry professionals from around the globe have come together in support of the initiative. Developers from studios like Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, and more have attempted to help this post gain more exposure.

Various students and software developers have also urged Rockstar Games to take note of Anthony Armstrong’s request. Moreover, Anthony Armstrong has acknowledged this support in a follow-up comment on the post, thanking the game developer community.

In the past, Bethesda allowed a Fallout fan suffering from cancer to play Fallout 76 before its official release. It would be incredible if Rockstar Games could arrange a similar session for Anthony Armstrong’s family member, serving as yet another example of how games can be a source of joy and pleasure, even in the darkest of times.

For the unaware, GTA 6 is currently set to launch on November 19 in 2026, following its latest delay. As of today, the game is still nearly one full year away, so everyone is hoping the industry can do something special for Anthony Armstrong’s relative.
