IO Interactive currently has its hands full with 007 First Light, the first big James Bond adaptation in many years. At the same time, the team is also working on Project Fantasy, a new IP set to venture into the world of fantasy RPGs.
The latter has only recently begun development and is still several years out at the time of writing. However, a job listing spotted by the Clawsomegamer team suggests that the studio has massive ambitions for the projects. The team even claims that its game will revolutionize the genre.
IO Interactive has multiple open positions for Project Fantasy. The job opening for UI Programmer notes that the game is in development for both consoles and PC. In the same job listing, IO Interactive claims that this project will revolutionize fantasy RPGs.

Although the job listings don’t reveal much else about this game, this is certainly a bold claim from the studio. Considering the fact that fantasy RPGs have been around for the longest time, Project Fantasy certainly has big shoes to fill.
It should be noted that Project Fantasy is being developed as an online RPG as opposed to a single-player adventure. In the past, the team has discussed innovations akin to Hitman’s contributions to the stealth genre for this upcoming IP.
Clawsomegamer also spotted that the team for Project Fantasy saw the addition of Lionel Le Dain last year, a former Ubisoft veteran who led the Division franchise for over 10 years as a Producer. The developer is now working at IO Interactive as an Executive Producer on its new IP.
IO Interactive’s 007 First Light launches on May 27 later this year. Following this release, the team should be able to dedicate all its resources to Project Fantasy as it works on a project that it claims will revolutionize the genre.
