Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri concluded yesterday, blessing fans with multiple new announcements regarding the IP. In addition to a new Dragon Ball Super anime, a revamp of Battle of Gods, and more, a brand new game dubbed ‘Age 1000’ was announced at the event.
Fans were immediately surprised at this reveal, and many now believe Dragon Ball Age 1000 is Xenoverse 3 in disguise.
Soon after the reveal, popular content creator Seereax took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Dragon Ball Age 1000. He seems convinced that this title is Bandai Namco’s attempt at keeping Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 under wraps.
The trailer highlights a brand new character designed by Akira Toriyama, and many are convinced that this has been done for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. For the unaware, this series has always centered around created characters interacting with the larger Dragon Ball universe.
Moreover, a recent post on Reddit covers theories on why fans are convinced that Dragon Ball Age 1000 is Xenoverse 3. They believe the original character looks very similar to Ace from the past titles, and the character’s Capsule Corp-inspired design lends itself naturally to the group’s involvement in the overall Xenovese plot.
It’s also worth mentioning that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has been mentioned several times in leaks before. As was the case with the Dragon Ball Super anime’s return, conversations regarding the game have hinted at Dimps working on a Xenoverse 2 successor for a while.
Others like Neotaku shared a similar opinion on Twitter, suggesting that the team is effectively doing the best it can to hide Xenoverse 3’s existence. Many also speculate that a future DLC or story in Xenoverse 2 could hint at the actual identity of Dragon Ball Age 1000.
The other popular theory is that Bandai Namco is working on a Dragon Ball Online successor. The original game was set in Age 1000, while Dragon Ball Xenoverse and its successor were set in Age 850 and 852, respectively. As such, fans believe there is an argument to be made for either of the two since the Xenoverse successor could be set in the future.
In Xenoverse’s case, many believe a successor to the nearly-decade-old Xenoverse 2 is long overdue. Perhaps this is why fans are so convinced Age 1000 is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
