Konami’s latest strategy has allowed it to bring two major IPs back from the dead. Both Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid have returned with highly praised remakes, effectively setting the stage for a bright future and continued relevance over the years.

In the former’s case, Konami has already released Silent Hill F as the follow-up to Silent Hill 2 Remake. While Metal Gear Solid has been limited to re-releases thus far, many have begun wondering what comes next for this series. To nobody’s surprise, Konami seems to be interested in another Metal Gear Solid remake.

Discussing the future of Metal Gear Solid in a new interview, series producer Noriaki Okamura revealed that Konami does not necessarily know what comes next for the franchise. He suggested that the team could work on anything, from remakes to original titles, but the final decision has yet to be made.

The series producer noted that the same philosophy used when making Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will not be applied to the next project. However, Konami is confident in the team that built Metal Gear Solid’s latest remake, so it is now considering future options.

Noriaki Okamura ended his response with a small teaser, admitting that he personally hopes to see Metal Gear Solid 4 receive the remake treatment.

“Personally, I’m hoping for a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.” – Noriaki Okamura

The reason this statement is so important is that Metal Gear Solid 4 fans have been starved for multiple decades at this point. The game has only stayed relevant due to the sheer quality of its content, with many fans praising Kojima’s storytelling and cinematic offering from 2008 to this day.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake

Metal Gear Solid 4 is in a much better state on RPCS3 today, but a remake would be nice to see based purely on the fact that the game is not available on modern hardware. Toward that end, many believe that even a simple port or remaster would suffice. Nonetheless, a Metal Gear Solid 4 remake would be a huge deal for both Konami and its stealth-action franchise.
