With the new Roots Halloween update in PEAK, zombies have infested the world. Progressing now will be really fun as you will have a new challenge to deal with. They will heavily affect your run, and one bite from them can be a game over.
Unfortunately, you will have to go through this pain and then cure it to get the Undead Encounter badge.
The Undead Encounter Badge is a unique achievement, which as I said, is introduced in the Roots Update. It represents surviving an undead infection by curing a zombie bite before it’s too late. Players earn it after successfully removing the infection using specific in-game remedies.

- Cosmetic Unlock: Pumpkin Hat
Finding Zombies and Getting the Undead Encounter Badge in PEAK

As I mentioned above, the only way to get the Undead Encounter badge is by going through the pain of a zombie bite, then curing it.
But first, we need to find zombies, who can be easily found on the floors of the Roots biome. Keep progressing, and you will eventually see them on the ground. Get close to one and it will bite you. Just wait for a bit, and the effect will take place eventually.
Now that we are infected, we can move on to its cures.
How to Cure Zombie Bite in PEAK
- Cure-All: This item can heal a zombie bite, as well as other adverse effects on a player.
- Antidote: As the name suggests, it can be used to cure diseases, including a zombie bite.
- Herbs or Medicines: Consume Shroomberries, Medicinal Roots, or Mandrakes, which you can find in the Roots biome, to cure the zombie bite.
When successfully cured, the Spores Meter will fade away, and a brief message will appear:
“You fought off the infection.”
Once the cure is successful, you will get the Undead Encounter Badge. This will also add a new patch to your sash and unlock the Pumpkin Hat, a cosmetic reward.
