Update: Black Myth Zhong Kui Confirmed.
Hours before Gamescom 2025 a major leak points to the possibility of Game Science revealing its new game. The makers of Black Myth Wukong, who we already know will be present at Gamescom 2025 have trademarked a title called Black Myth Zhongkui.
The name is referencing the famous demon-queller from Chinese mythology. ZhongKui is traditionally portrayed as a stocky, bearded figure who wards off evil spirits, a natural fit for the Black Myth franchise, which has built its identity on adapting legendary folklore into dark, cinematic action.

The trademark is 100% from the makers of Black Myth Wukong but what’s less clear is whether Black Myth Zhongkui filiing is for a sequel or an expansion for Black Myth Wukong. However, my money is on a new game.
The trademark covers gaming software but also extends to categories like bracelets, stationery, and merchandise, meaning it could be tied to marketing rather than gameplay content.

Back in 2020, Game Science registered multiple “Black Myth” titles, hinting at its long-term plan to build a mythology-driven universe.
A DLC for Black Myth Wukong is already confirmed to be in development and since the studio will be at Gamescom, we can expect a reveal in a matter of hours. Whether this is a sequel or an expansion, either way, these are exciting times to be a Game Science fan.
In past interviews, Game Science has expressed its ambition to make Black Myth a long-running series centered on different figures from Chinese legends. If Zhongkui is indeed the next step, it could mark the beginning of a multi-title saga that brings other mythic heroes to the spotlight.
