With the new v0.3.0 Monster Update in R.E.P.O., we get two upgrades that offer a unique and fun experience. This update mainly benefits solo players, as with the right strategy, you can make use of these upgrades effectively. Knowing what these upgrades do can prove to be really helpful throughout your run.

Two New Upgrades in R.E.P.O Explained

There are 2 new upgrades in the game: Tumble Climb and the Dead Head Battery. Let’s take a look at how they both work:

Tumble Climb

Tumble Climb upgrade in REPO

A grapple hook, which turns your crosshair blue. While tumbling, approach any surface and aim at it. Then press the action/interact button to launch an invisible thread. This will pull you upward, making it impossible for monsters to reach you.

You can get the most out of this upgrade by using it to reach inaccessible areas and to dodge monsters. But beware, as when you let go of the Tumble Climb, you will fall to the ground, which creates a sound and alerts nearby enemies. Be on guard, especially around the Huntsman.

A pretty useful ability, right? True, but it comes with a catch. Each time you use the Tumble Climb ability, it takes up stamina and requires sufficient strength to last for a long period of time. Just upgrade it to significantly reduce the amount of stamina it takes and improve the strength to keep you lifted.

What makes this upgrade even better is that when you use the Tumble Grab ability, weapons or items that are out of reach can be easily accessed. One fun thing you can do is to grab monsters and toss them around.

Dead Head Battery

Head Battery in R.E.P.O

As I mentioned at the start, the new R.E.P.O. upgrades are pretty beneficial for solo-play. This doesn’t go for the Dead Head Battery, and it works best for co-op and multiplayer modes. This is because when you die, you will become a talking batter, that is, if you have the Death Head Possession ability.

When you die, the player will spot a blue head with closed eyes on the right side of the screen. The eyes will slowly but surely open as they get charged. After 100 seconds, the Dead Head Battery will be charged.

Now, you can use the Death Head Possession ability as a walkie-talkie to communicate with teammates. The ability comes with a huge stamina consumption, and the only way to recharge the battery is to just wait. Tired of losing stamina? The best way is to just upgrade it, which will reduce the time taken to recharge and improve stamina consumption, keeping the Death Head alive for longer.

On top of that, you gain mobility, allowing you to jump and run more easily. You can use Death Head to get vantage points and guide your teammates, or lure enemies away from your comrades.

That’s all you need to know about the two new upgrades newly introduced in R.E.P.O. Use them smartly to make your journey a lot easier.
