Resident Evil Requiem is looking strong, with potential to be one of the top games of 2026. Aside from the excellent graphics, the game comes with a huge variety of challenges and puzzles that are pretty fun to solve. However, there’s just one issue. There’s no option to disable grain in the game’s settings. You will have to install a mode to disable film grain in Resident Evil Requiem for a sharper and clearer image, and this guide will take you through the process.

How Can I Disable Film Grain in Resident Evil 9?

The  REFramework tool just got updated for Resident Evil Requiem, which allows you to use mods in games that use the RE Engine, which is only Capcom games. However, the actual mod that disabled the film grain was created by Nexus Mods user asdt123123.

Here is how you can use the mod to disable Film Grain in Resident Evil Requiem:

  • Click on this link, and in the latest release, click on RE9.zip under Assets.
  • Extract the downloaded zip file where Resident Evil Requiem is installed*.
  • Click on this link and download the zip file for the mod.
  • Extract the zip file (No Film Grain-18-1-0-0-1772264739.zip) where Resident Evil Requiem is installed*.
  • Launch Resident Evil Requiem, and the REframework window will automatically pop up on the left side of the screen (Press the Insert or Ins key to hide and bring it back).

*Right-click Resident Evil Requiem in your Steam library > Manage > click “Browse local files”. A new Explorer window will open containing RE Requiem’s game files. Extract RE REFramework and the Mod here.

Aside from that, the mode also comes with some other features:

  • Free cam.
  • FOV adjustment.
  • Disable vignette.
  • Ultrawide improvements.
  • Black bar removal in ultrawide cutscenes.

A big thanks to praydog for the REFramework mod. Keep an eye out on the releases page for an updated version of REFramework available, as it might have improvements and new features.

How Can I Disable the Mod?

To disable the mod, head over to where Resident Evil Requiem is installed and delete the disable_film_grain.lua file. To enable it back again, this is the file you need, and it comes in the zip folder for the mod.

Let’s just hope that the developers add an option to disable the film grain in the game’s settings. Hope that this guide has helped you.
