It will always be hard to choose between Order and Faith in Frostpunk 2 because this is one of the most important choices you’ll make.

Order and Faith are the only two ideologies you can choose from early in the game. The choice might seem simple, but it is not. Order and Faith will decide the trajectory of your leadership and infrastructure.

It will also have an impact on how you deal with factions.

Note: You won’t be able to change your decision after choosing between Order or Faith.

Order vs. Faith in Frostpunk 2

The Order path focuses on control, discipline, and efficiency. It fosters a structured society where obedience is the most important.

With Order you can pass laws that boost productivity but some of these laws will have a negative impact on individual freedoms.

Key structures include Guardhouses and Prisons, which help maintain order but consume resources and manpower.

Opt for Order if you favor a more authoritarian approach.

AdvantagesDisadvantages
Higher resource output and faster production rates.Risk of citizen unrest if they feel oppressed.
Easier management of dissent through strict governance, which can lower discontent levels.Requires careful balancing of hope and discontent to avoid revolts.

The Faith path focuses on community, hope, and spiritual guidance in Frostpunk 2.

If you go down the Faith route you can build structures like Temples and Prayer Houses that require fewer resources and staff compared to Order’s facilities.

With Faith you will be focusing on morale-boosting laws that focus on your citizen well-being.

AdvantagesDisadvantages
Provides a steady source of hope through spiritual engagement.May have lower efficiency in resource production compared to Order.
Structures like the House of Healing can mitigate health issues without heavy resource investment. Can lead to over-reliance on spiritual leadership, potentially fostering fanaticism among citizens.

Choose Faith if you value community spirit and wish to inspire hope among your citizens.

Choosing Between Order and Faith

If you want to prioritize resource management during harsh conditions, then the Order path is the best way forward.

I personally use the Order path as well and while there are some downsides of it due to authoritarian laws, you can always mitigate that by making sure your citizens are well fed and kept warm.

The key to everything is managing moral.

Each path aligns you with different factions—Order with the Stalwarts and Faith with the Faithkeepers. These factions have distinct agendas that influence interactions with other groups in the game, affecting your overall strategy.
