Slay the Spire 2 features three Acts, but these sections of the game can be replayed through alternative locales, like The Underdocks.
Each act has multiple locales, but for this guide, let’s focus on unlocking The Underdocks, one of the locales of Act 1. Here’s what you need to do to unlock this locale.
Unlock The Underdocks in Slay the Spire 2
Unlocking different locales for each Act requires completing different tasks. For instance, the game might ask you to reach certain scores or take down bosses as specific characters.
Fortunately, unlocking The Underdocks is simple in that it only requires beating all of the Undergrowth’s final bosses. These include:
- Vantom
- The Kin
- Ceremonial Beast
Here’s a quick overview of the aforementioned bosses and how to deal with them. Before you begin, keep in mind that the game randomly decides which boss shows up in the finale.
Vantom

Vantom follows a standard attack pattern, but it can be quite tricky fighting him for the first time. During his first turn, the boss deals 9 damage and hits you with the Slippery effect.
This effectively limits your damage to 1 for the next 9 attacks, so focus on using low-cost strike attacks rapidly to do away with this limitation.
During turn 2, Vantom will attack with his tail from up close. Here, you should be setting up for the next turn since that’s when he will use all his might.
Turn 3 will see Vantom using his tail, which is now much bigger, to deal 25 damage. It’s best to use cards that give you Blocks here. Block and Fortifier potions are also great to have in this situation.
Finally, the boss will use a buff during the fourth turn, allowing you a huge opportunity to retaliate. Afterwards, Vantom will attack with the same pattern, so he shouldn’t be too challenging to take down.
Ceremonial Beast

This fight is basically made up of two phases. During the first phase, the beast buffs itself to deal much more serious damage than most foes up to this point.
It’s recommended to use Block and Brace to deal with this damage first. You can also hit the Cetermonial Beast with Weak to further minimize the effects.
To bring the HP down, using a character like The Silent is a good idea for the passive damage through poison. Once the boss’ HP goes down to 150, phase 2 will kick off, giving the beast access to Ringing.
When Ringing is inflicted, you won’t be able to play more than a single card for the next turn. It’s a good idea to use a Fire Potion here to skip the Ceremonial Beast’s turn and possibly avoid being inflicted by Ringing.
The boss will use Ringing at random, so try to watch out for it as best as you can. The rest of the fight will remain fairly straightforward.
The Kin

This boss fight is different from the other two in that it adds multiple enemies. The Kin Leader will join the battlefield alongside two followers.
You should start by focusing on the minions and dealing damage to them as quickly as possible. Also, make sure to apply the likes of Block and Monarch’s Gaze for defense against all of their attacks, one after another.
Once the minions are down, the Kin Leader will become more aggressive. He will also frequently buff himself, so keep using debuffs from time to time. Doing so should be enough to defeat the boss with little challenge. Once all three bosses are unlocked, The Underdocks should now be available.
That is how you can unlock The Underdocks in Slay the Spire 2. For more on the game, check our other guides for Slay the Spire 2.
