Call of Duty’s development is among the most strenuous in the industry, comprising three lead developers and multiple support studios. The three lead teams include Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games, with all three currently working on new projects for the IP.

Interestingly, a job listing discovered by the Clawsomegamer team suggests Sledgehammer Games is currently the one working on bringing the series to the Nintendo Switch.

Sledgehammer Games

Sledgehammer Games is currently looking to hire a Senior Technical Artist for its next major first-person shooter project following 2023’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

In the Bonus XP section of the job listing, the developer explicitly mentions experience with the Nintendo Switch as a major positive. This emphasis suggests that the studio is working on what could be the first taste of Call of Duty on Nintendo’s latest home console platform.

“AAA Mobile or Switch Experience” – Sledgehammer Games

Recently, Activision also confirmed that it was working with Nintendo to bring this series to the Switch platform. This job listing is further proof that developers like Sledgehammer Games are actively working on porting the series, following Xbox’s initial promise of Call of Duty on Nintendo consoles at the time of the Activision buyout.

At present, Sledgehammer Games is not expected to release its next Call of Duty before 2027, with Infinity Ward taking the lead on Modern Warfare 4, expected to launch in 2026. Therefore, Call of Duty might not arrive on Nintendo hardware as soon as expected.

It is also worth noting that the job listing mentions AAA mobile experience. Because Call of Duty already exists on mobile platforms, including Warzone, and Sledgehammer Games has worked on Warzone content in the past, this job listing could be hinting at the possibility of Warzone being made available on the Nintendo Switch.

The big question on everyone’s mind right now is whether Call of Duty will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusively. Given the age of the original Nintendo Switch, this seems likely, but it remains to be seen how Xbox and Activision move forward with these plans.
