Sony’s latest decision to close Bluepoint Games has killed any remaining hopes of fans setting Bloodborne Remake. This beloved FromSoftware title has been stuck on PlayStation for over a decade now and remains limited to its original visuals and frame rate from back then.

Many had hoped Bluepoint Games would get a shot at Bloodborne after its work on Demon’s Souls, but this will clearly not be the case. To make matters worse, Sony doesn’t appear keen on letting fans remake Bloodborne themselves either. According to a game developer, Sony has shut down his attempt at Bloodborne Remake not once but twice.

Bloodborne Fan Remake Cease And Desist

According to Maxime Foulquier, Sony sent a cease and desist letter regarding his Bloodborne Remake project in March, 2025. This was only a few months after the developer posted about this project publicly, and the social media post also shows a screenshot of the cease and desist letter.

At the time, the developer believed Sony was already working on an official remake when his project was shut down. As Maxime Foulquier puts it, with Bluepoint Games gone, the chances of Sony ever doing an official remake for Bloodborne have gone down drastically.

Like many others, Foulquier is quite upset with this development. He says that shutting down a talented team like Bluepoint Games is bad enough, but PlayStation is making matters worse by preventing fans from attempting to preserve the IP.

For the unaware, the second remake in question was a project dubbed Bloodborne Top Down Arena, which effectively provided a Diablo-like gameplay experience. When the developer originally shared word on the project, it received plenty of positive reactions from the community.

Of course, it seems PlayStation was not among those who appreciated Foulquier’s efforts. In the past, the developer also shared a video of an Unreal Engine 5-based Bloodborne Remake, which, to nobody’s surprise, was eventually taken down through a copyright strike.

However you put it, the situation surrounding Bloodborne is quite unfortunate. Sony does not appear interested in remaking the game for now, and with Bluepoint Games no longer in the picture, there’s no telling when this FromSoftware IP will come back, if ever.

At the same time, fans yearn to see the game receive the remake treatment, but fan projects such as Bloodborne Top Down Arena are unlikely to ever see the light of day if things remain as they are.
