To start crafting yourself some traps in Soulmask you need the required tech in the Dawn of the New Tribe branch of the Knowledge & Technology menu. You can unlock traps through the menu, and then you are good to go.
The next step would be to gather crafting materials and using the right crafting recipe to craft the traps.
There are two types of traps in the game, small and medium. There is also a fishing trap you can craft to catch fish in the game.

How to Use Traps in Soulmask
Select the spot where you need to set the traps. The best locations are the ones where your desired animal is seen frequently.
Know that the location does not have to be near your camp, but the problem is that traps outside your camp radius deteriorate over time which means you need to regularly check on them and maintain them.
Now you need to select the trap from your inventory and place it wherever you want. The next step is to add the right bait for your desired animals.
The type of bait can be determined by checking your Hunting Gallery. For instance, use corn for turkeys and parrots, and potatoes for capybaras. Always check the Hunting Gallery if you are not sure which bait to use.
Make sure to stay hidden after placing the traps as to not spook the animals.
Move away from the trap to avoid scaring the animals if you have other things to do and check back on the traps to see if anything is caught.
Traps will break after capturing an animal and need to be repaired before they can be used again. The animal can then be used for breeding or as a source of food.
