Dynasty Warriors Origins has made its way to the Steam Deck, bringing intense action and large-scale battles to portable gaming. While the game is marked as “Playable” on the Steam Deck, not everything is perfect under the hood.

Don’t get me wrong, Dynasty Warriors Origins runs well on Steam Deck but limited resolution support and blurry text in the menus and sometimes subtitles are kind of a problem, at least for me.

16:10 aspect ratio (native to the Steam Deck) is not available, so you’re limited to 720p with black bars on the screen. With this in mind, let’s go through the best possible settings Dynasty Warriors Origins on Steam Deck.

Best Steam Deck Dynasty Warriors Settings

Here are my recommended settings for Dynasty Warriors Origins on Steam Deck.

OptionsSettings
Resolution720p (No support for 800p or 16:10 aspect ratios)
Frame Rate CapOLED Steam Deck: Lock to 45 FPS
LCD Steam Deck: Lock to 40 FPS for smoother performance.
Upscaling OptionsUse FSR 1.0 (Quality) with sharpness set between 15–20 for the best visual clarity in motion.

Avoid FSR 3, XCSS, and DLSS due to graphical artifacts, motion blur, and lack of stability.
Dynamic ResolutionDisable, as it does not function properly.
HDREnable for higher brightness on OLED models, though the difference is minor.
Volumetric effectsEnabled but may be demanding during intense scenes.
Other effectsAdjust to medium or low if additional stability is needed.

Dynasty Warriors Origins suffers from significant frame rate drops occur when large numbers of enemies or complex effects (e.g., sorceries) are on-screen. If you lock frame rate at 40 FPS improves consistency, especially for Steam Deck LCD.

But do not expect the game to maintain 40 FPS+ during demanding combat sequences. Dynasty Warriors Origins will sit around 35 to 36 FPS in combat situations.

You can go with 720p resolution at 30 FPS cap gives sharper image quality but at the cost of fluidity. However, 30FPS cap is not a bad way to play.

I do not recommend using any TDP limits because that really affects the game’s performance. You will end up experiencing frame rate drops and stutters.
