My dad used to flip houses a few years back until the pandemic hit. And as soon as he saw me playing House Flipper 2, he wanted in. Unfortunately, the game’s performance sucks which obviously frustrated him and it is safe to say its poor performance frustrates you as well.

Worry not my friends, I am going to improve House Flipper 2’s Steam Deck performance for you all as much as possible. Keep in mind that there is nothing I can do to fix the game at a technical level, that’s for the devs to do, but there are some things you can try, some settings you can use to optimize House Flipper 2 to run better on Steam Deck.

Let’s start with the settings and then we will move to performance and fixes for some known issues.

Best House Flipper 2 Settings For Steam Deck

  • Dynamic Resolution Mode: None
  • Antialiasing: TAA
  • TAA quality: Medium
  • Texture Resolution: Quarter resolution
  • Shadows Quality: Very low
  • Shadows distance: Medium
  • Ambiant occlusion quality: Low
  • Motion blur: Off
  • Bloom: Off
  • Screen space reflections: Off
  • Volumetric fog: Off
  • V-Sync: Off (in Display tab)
  • Frame Rate Limit: 30

With these settings you can easily maintain the frame rate but there will be low textures and occasional blurriness. However, overall, these are the best settings you can have for House Flipper 2 on Steam Deck.

Going Beyond 30FPS In House Flipper 2

I have tried some more other settings to push the game a stable-ish 30FPS but it comes with some obvious performance issues like texture pop-ups and the occasional heavy dip below 20FPS.

Settings To Hit 60FPS in House Flipper 2.

If you want to try to push beyond 30FPS to see how the game runs for you, here are the House Flipper 2 settings you can use:

  • Texture Resolution: Quarter Resolution
  • Screen Space Reflections: Off
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:10
  • Antialiasing: TAA
  • TAA Quality: High
  • Shadows Distance: Low
  • V-sync: Off
  • Dynamic Resolution Mode: FSR
  • FSR Mode: Quality
  • Bloom: Low
  • Ambient Occlusion Quality: Low
  • Screen Resolution: 1152×720
  • Frame rate limiter: 60 or 30
  • Motion Blur: Off

If you’re playing in Steam Deck Docked Mode cap resolution to 1280×720 with FSR Off.

Common House Flipper 2 Errors And Their Fixes For Steam Deck

No matter what settings you try there will always be some issues such as crashes, black screens, and sometimes the game will just get stuck. The following are some tried and tested solutions that work but they are not permanent because the developers haven’t released any solid fixes yet.

Crashes: House Flipper 2 is known to have issues if you’re running the game on an SD Card. The solution is to remove the SD card and reinsert it. If the issue persists, move the game files to Steam Deck’s internal storage.

FPS Drops: If you’re facing random and frequently FPS drops then try to edit and re-initialize Steam Deck’s DNS. To do this you need to enter Steam Deck Desktop Mode by holding power button.

The next step is to click on your current Wi-Fi icon at the bottom right of the screen. Go into Configure Network Connection that’s available at the top.

Select IPv4 and switch the Method of automatic to “automatic (only addresses)”. What we are going to do now is enter Google DNS.

Enter 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4 into the DNS Servers tab. Pay attention to what I have written down, there is comma that separates the DNS address. Either copy paste this address or remember to not miss the comma when tying in it.

That isn’t done yet.

Press the Edit button next to the “DNS Servers” bar to open a new DNS menu where you need to “Add” DNS address 8.8.4.8.

Now click “OK” and you’re good to go.
