Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is finally out on Steam Deck and its performance is being praised across the board, so I wanted to check it out for myself. While I did manage to extract the best settings for you, I did come across some issues including the HDR.
In some AAA games HDR just won’t turn off on Steam Deck. The most recent example would be Ghost of Tsushima and now Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth keep launching into HDR on Steam Deck.
HDR won’t go away even if you turn it off from the settings. So how do you fix this? The solution is the following command:
DXVK_HDR=0 %command%
From the game’s Steam Page in your library, click on the cogwheel to open up settings.
Now go to properties:
Now in the General tab scroll all the way down to “Launch Options” and type in the command I shared above.
This will permanently stop Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth from loading into HDR every time you want to play. HDR takes a toll on performance so it should be kept off in any case if you want a decent frame rate in FF7 7 Rebirth.
