Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is an open-world RPG set in a dark fantasy world. As you proceed in the game, there’ll come many points when you need to take a break and relax for a while before continuing your adventures.
The best way to do so is by camping for some time by the side of a cozy bonfire. This guide explains how to set up a camp in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.
How to Set Up Camp and Bonfire in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
You will unlock the ability to set up camp in the game fairly early, but not immediately in the game. After you complete the main quest “The Great Escape,” you will be introduced to Caradoc, a knight who helps you escape the prison. Reach the beach, and you’ll see a person standing right next to a boat. Talk to him briefly, and at this point, the bonfire feature becomes available.
Setting up camp is quite easy and straightforward in the game. If you are playing on a PC, simply press the Q button, and it will load a screen.

The bonfire option is in the circle on the left side of your screen. Hover the mouse cursor over to the campfire icon in the upper quadrant and click it. Once you do that, an indicator will appear on your screen. You can start the fire at any place, but make sure you select one that is flat. Press E to start the fire.
On the controller, hit the L1 button and select the campfire by hitting up on the directional pad. Now press A to drop the fire at the point of your choosing.
You don’t need any materials to start the fire, and you can place it anywhere in the game, except the dungeons. Bonfires are not everlasting. They’ll disappear after a few moments, so you’ll have to replace them time and again.
Every Way You Can Use a Bonfire in Tainted Grail
There are various perks of bonfires for players. They are like a home in the wilderness. Here are the different uses for bonfires.
- Sleep
- Level up
- Cook or craft
- Recharge Soul Fragment powers
- Fast travel
- Identify mystery gear
- Speak to King Arthur
Note: You can’t heal by resting at the camp.
Can You Upgrade Bonfire in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Yes. For this, you’ll need 10 Ethereal Cobwebs. These are dropped from Wyrdness monsters, which are commonly found at night. Once you upgrade the fire, you can use the fire to identify the unidentified items and get useful materials from them. Players can also brew potions and fast travel from your location to other unlocked spots.
There is another benefit of upgrading bonfire in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. The monsters will not be able to attack while you are asleep.
While the benefits may look interesting, the upgrade works only once. The next fire you set up will be a normal one, and you’ll have to spend 10 Ethereal Cobwebs to upgrade it. However, Ethereal Cobwebs are not a rare item, so you can use them at will.
