CDPR is putting together quite the team for The Witcher 4, and unsurprisingly so. The team’s upcoming RPG is said to be its most ambitious, aiming for the sky after an exceptional showing with The Witcher 3.

Toward that end, the studio is working with a plethora of extremely talented developers. Adding to the team, CDPR has recently hired a veteran from the Mass Effect IP, fueling further excitement among those looking forward to The Witcher’s latest outing.

Dorian Kieken Joins CDPR

Sharing an update on his career, Dorian Kieken recently posted on Twitter and confirmed that he has joined CDPR.

The developer will work as the AI Director at CDPR, shaping the studio’s AI vision for the future. For context, the developer previously worked in a similar role at BioWare, where he helped bring Mass Effect 2 and 3 to life as the Project Director.

More recently, Dorian Keken worked at AI Redefined as the CEO. According to his work description on LinkedIn, the developer worked on Cogment during his time at AI Redefined, a platform used to train AI continuously in simulation environments.

His speciality in recent years appears to be Machine Learning in the context of games and simulations, so CDPR’s ambitious RPG worlds should have much to gain from the developer’s experience. Whether Dorian Kieken will also help incorporate greater use of generative AI at CDPR is, however, a mystery for now.

CDPR previously confirmed it would not use generative AI when making The Witcher 4, but like other studios in the industry, the team is exploring potential use for the technology in future projects. Nonetheless, the addition of Dorian Kieken sounds like a huge win for the team.
