Ubisoft has been through a slew of financial hurdles recently. Notably, the gaming giant has formed a new subsidiary with Tencent recently, hoping to return as a dominant force in the open-world games genre. Ubisoft’s latest financial report confirmed that the team laid off 1500 developers throughout the last year.
According to members of the Ubisoft Abu Dhabi team on LinkedIn, it seems this studio has also suffered in a new round of layoffs.

Multiple developers from the team have recently posted on LinkedIn, sharing that they are now exploring opportunities beyond Ubisoft. Avadhut Mulay shared that he has 9 years of experience across both Ubisoft and EA, with the developer now looking for employment elsewhere.
Similarly, Ralph Roukoz noted that he is looking to explore new jobs that align with his skills. Both posts were made within days of each other, suggesting Ubisoft Abu Dhabi let go of multiple developers at once recently. Also, looking at the profiles of the other developers at the studio tells a similar story.

Many now have the ‘Open To Work’ badge on their profile pictures, and the company’s LinkedIn page states that around 55 developers currently work at the studio.
Based on our research, more than 7 developers have been laid off at the studio, but the actual number is likely higher. Therefore, it seems Ubisoft Abu Dhabi has lost about 15% of its overall staff recently.
Unfortunately, layoffs are no longer surprising for big studios in 2025. In Ubisoft Abu Dhabi’s case, the team was mainly focused on expanding the company’s mobile gaming endeavors, so it will be interesting to see how these goals are impacted in the coming years.
