Ubisoft is on track to complete its €1.16 billion deal with Tencent, which will see the gaming giant form a new subsidiary for three of its biggest IPs. Dubbed Vantage Studios, this subsidiary will focus on producing high-quality titles and experiences for Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

While this is just the beginning, the French gaming giant is already looking ahead at grander possibilities. In fact, it aims to produce billion-euro ecosystems with these IPs.

Ubisoft Building Billion-Euro IPs

Discussing the three IPs under Vantage Studios, the gaming giant outlined a major goal for the future. It hopes to turn Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six into annual billion-euro ecosystems when all is said and done.

Because the company uses the term ecosystem, it intends to use all the brand power these IPs currently have at their disposal. Therefore, spin-offs, adaptations, and merch will all likely factor into Vantage Studios’ greater aims of producing three billion-euro ecosystems.

“A new leadership team is being formed to drive creative excellence across each brand on their path to building annual billion-euro brand ecosystems.” -Ubisoft

Last year, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed had generated over $4 billion in revenue over the last decade. Although impressive, the publisher aims to drive these IPs to even greater heights and bring them to a stage where such figures can be replicated on an annual basis.

Ultimately, Ubisoft is hoping to grow its IPs and match the scale of an annual series like Call of Duty. However, because the studio does not pursue annual releases for these IPs, it will likely rely on other means of meeting the overall target for these brand ecosystems.
