Thufir Hawat is one of the NPCs you can find in Dune Awakening. He offers many side quests to your character that can really boost your base building efforts. Thufir Hawat appears during mid-game but only if you’re aligned with the Thufir Hawat.
Where to Find Thufir Hawat in Dune Awakening

Thufir Hawat hangs out in Arrakeen, the main city the Atreides run. The quickest way to him is to warp to the landing bay—catch a taxi or hop on your ornithopter.
From the pad, walk straight forward, climb the stairs, and step into the big plaza full of parked ornithopters. When you reach the top, look to the upper-right corner of the deck, and you’ll see Thufir leaning against the wall, looking out over the hub.
Thufir acts as a major guide for several class paths. If you’re chasing the Mentat line, he steps in after you wrap up early jobs like An Olive Branch, giving you the chat and the items you need to open higher skill tiers.
The Planetologist path points you to Thufir, too, treating him as a checkpoint where he hands out notes and starts the next missions.
Remember, his role depends on your faction: Atreides players find Thufir in Arrakeen, while Harkonnen crews meet Piter de Vries up in Harko Village for the same quest points.
Before flying to Arrakeen, double-check that your Quest Tracker clearly lists “Thufir Hawat.” Sometimes the marker looks like a general city icon, and knowing his name keeps you on the right target.
After you land, climb the stairs following the main walkway. From the ornithopter plaza you can spot the upper-right corner; his NPC icon will be there. That building shows up in Mentat and Planetologist missions, so you can go straight to him when needed.
Hawat offers the following quests:
- On the Tainted Trail
- A New Cultist
- A Center of Learning
- The Hunt for Skorda
- Skorda’s Last Stand
- The Tainted Spice
A Known Bug Thufir Hawat
Players sometimes hit glitches when giving items to Thufir, and the quests stall. A frequent snag is the level-3 Mentat quest freezing until you visit him again in Arrakeen or finish a related main-story mission.
If his dialogue doesn’t start, try walking away for a moment and returning; that simple trick clears the hold most of the time. Another handy tip is to hand in overlapping quests one after the other-don’t dump all the Mentat and Planetologist items at the same time-because some players say the trigger fails if you submit them together.
