Following the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in 2023, Insomniac Games has been missing from the industry for a while, but the studio is preparing for its grand return next year with Marvel’s Wolverine. Promising brutal gameplay and over-the-top cinematic action, this superhero adventure is shaping up to be one of PlayStation’s most exciting offerings this generation.
Unfortunately for Marvel’s Wolverine, however, it must go head-to-head against the industry’s biggest behemoth, GTA 6. Many fans even expressed concerns about Insomniac Games potentially delaying the game to avoid competing with GTA 6, but a new social media post from the lead actor suggests this won’t be the case.

Lim McIntyre, the actor voicing and playing Wolverine in PlayStation’s blockbuster title, recently thanked the fans for wishlisting the game on PS5.
He then assured the fans that Insomniac Games is doing its utmost to impress with the final product. Lim McIntyre also teased that more news would be shared for the title next year, implying that the team’s marketing plans are almost ready to be put into motion.
This likely means that the team has no current intentions of delaying the game.
“Wanted to post this for a while. Can’t wait to show you more next year.” – Liam McIntyre
PlayStation’s history suggests the first-party title will likely show up again in just a few more months, with more extensive marketing endeavours being carried out a few months ahead of the Fall 2026 release. Of course, this means that Marvel’s Wolverine will go head-to-head with GTA 6.
This is significant since analysts previously noted that GTA 6’s release was big enough to force major publishers to change release dates for their games. Similar conversations may have already been held for Marvel’s Wolverine, but Liam McIntyre’s teaser suggests the title is still set for a 2026 release.
Interestingly, this would not be the first time Rockstar Games and Insomniac Games have launched major games close to each other. Back in 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Red Dead Redemption launched six days apart, with both titles managing to find plenty of success.
Therefore, history appears to be repeating itself. Also, GTA 6 is expected to boost PS5 sales by a huge margin next year, which could indirectly end up benefitting Marvel’s Wolverine due to the timing of the Fall period.
