A highly demanded feature is now officially part of the new Monster Hunter game. Yes, you can pause the game but there is a catch.
You can pause Monster Hunter Wilds as long as you are playing in the “Online Single Player mode.
There might be times when you have to suddenly step away from the game — to go to the bathroom, take care of your kid or, in my case, your mother demanding you get off the game.
Monster Hunter Wilds has a new Online Single Player mode, allowing you to do this, alongside its own unique features.
Here, we will guide you through the steps necessary for pausing the game in Monster Hunter Wilds and discuss the merits of the “Online Single Player” mode.
How to Activate Online Single Player and Pause in MH Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds there two ways to turn off Online Single Player Mode:
- Choose Online Single Player mode in the lobby select screen after you select your save data.
- Speak to Alma at any base camp’s Quest Counter.
Now we can pause the game when we enter the server. Go to the Start Menu → System Settings → Pause Game.
When you pause the game all gameplay is frozen, including mid-combat actions and monster attacks. This is useful when trying to switch weapons because changing weapons mid-hunt happens in real time, making you vulnerable to monster attacks.
Pro Tip: Use this mode for uninterrupted hunts with pause functionality during emergencies.
