Battlefield 6 showed immense potential at release, even going as far as dethroning Call of Duty for the first time. The title ended 2025 as the year’s best-selling title in the US, but things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows for EA’s massive franchise in 2026.
Although the game’s Steam player count had begun declining a while back, it has now started to hit new lows. In fact, Battlefield 6 is no longer able to sustain daily concurrent peaks of 100K players.

Analyzing the recent Battlefield 6 concurrent player count peaks on SteamDB shows that 5 January was a turning point for EA’s first-person shooter.
Before this date, the game was still achieving 100K or higher concurrent player counts relatively consistently. However, in the nearly 15 days since then, the title has only managed to reach 100K concurrent players twice. At the time of writing, 32,374 players are active in-game.
During the most recent weekend, Battlefield 6 peaked at 91,776 concurrent players, falling short of this milestone by over 8,000 players. This has come as quite a shock, considering the first-person shooter was managing to achieve figures close to 300,000 concurrent players in November.
Recently, negative sentiment regarding Battlefield 6 has grown within the community. Many have criticized the game for its lackluster battle-royale experience and small maps. The game even saw harsh reactions over the use of AI-generated art last month.
It should be noted that while the above figures represent the numbers on Steam, other platforms have likely experienced a similar decline in interest from players. The fact that titles like Arc Raiders became so popular shortly after Battlefield 6’s release has done little to help the situation.
Looking at the ongoing live-service model, Dice has delayed Season 2 to February 17 to address fan concerns regarding the many elements they find underwhelming as of right now. Moreover, the unfortunate passing of Vince Zampella has likely shaken Battlefield management, giving the team little time to help the game bounce back.
As it stands, Battlefield 6 could see players lose interest further in the coming weeks. Perhaps EA will resort to another free weekend coinciding with the release of Season 2 to bring players back to the best-selling US title of 2025.
