After shattering all expectations with Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios has set its sights on Divinity. This upcoming entry of the franchise promises the same charm that fans have come to love and expect from the team while also expanding on the studio’s existing philosophy.

As excitement for Divinity builds up and fans prepare for its release in a few years, many have begun questioning whether the team will consider a Switch 2 release for the RPG. The good news is that it seems the answer to this question is a yes.

Divinity on Switch 2

Responding to a recent question during a Reddit QnA, Divinity Technical Director Bert van Semmertier noted that the studio is quite fond of the Nintendo Switch 2.

The team also ported Divinity: Original Sin 2 to the Switch platform recently, and it appears keen on doing the same for the series’ next entry when feasible. As Bert van Semmertier puts it, Larian Studios will definitely consider the possibilities of this port.

Unfortunately, the RPG may not necessarily launch on the Nintendo Switch from day one. At release, efforts to optimize Divinity will likely be focused on the main PlayStation and Xbox consoles, in addition to PC.

“We will certainly consider Switch 2 for the next Divinity game.” – Bert van Semmertier

In the same QnA, Larian Studios confirmed mod support for Divinity. The team also intends to offer co-op gameplay at release, giving gamers just one more reason to be excited about the upcoming RPG. Elsewhere, Larian recently discussed its stance on generative AI, noting that it no longer intends to use the technology for the creation of concept art.
