The prolific publisher behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises, CD Projekt, has rebranded itself as CD Projekt Red. Some of you might be confused, but until June 23rd, CD Projekt was the publishing wing of the company, while CD Projekt Red (CDPR) was the studio.

CD Projekt Rebrands to CD Projekt Red

Reported by Bankier, the firm decided to rebrand its name on June 23rd through a majority vote during the company’s general meeting. According to the firm, the decision was made to ensure “consistency” in the brand communication.

In the opinion of the management board, the new company name will ensure consistency in the communication of the CD Projekt Red brand, which will, among other things, facilitate the identification of the company with its products on the global market.

PC storefront GOG used to be under CD Projekt, but it was sold in late 2025 to one of the company’s founders.

The studio is working on The Witcher 4, which might be developed using Gen AI, as CDPR noted in its report earlier this year that it is testing realistic crowds of NPCs powered by AI. However, the use of AI in games is frowned upon by gamers in general, and we will have to wait and see how it turns out. However, if the tech results in more reactive NPCs in games, then it will be a good use of it.

Aside from The Witcher, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is also in development, although it is being developed by another studio. Cyberpunk 2 is expected to have 300 devs working on it in 2026.
