The ongoing memory crisis is one of the most popular points of discussion in the PC industry. As demand for AI products continues to reach unprecedented levels, the likes of Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are struggling to keep pace.
It is said that all three manufacturers are now more focused on HBM (High-Bandwidth Memory) as opposed to memory for consumer products. In the aftermath, reports suggest that companies will be forced to delay their products amid struggles to secure memory.
This report comes from Korean outlet Chosun Biz, which reports that companies like Lenovo, HP, and more are now going all out in an attempt to secure memory semiconductors for their upcoming products.
However, it is said that the PC industry must adjust its supply chain management and distribution strategies as it copes with the evolving situation. The report outlines that various tech giants have already secured large quantities of memory for products set to launch next year, but these products will likely experience a surge in prices.
The price factor is considered a major burden for these giants, leading to considerations of price hikes as high as 30% for premium products. These companies also believe that delaying products or downsizing premium offerings will become necessary eventually.
“We anticipate postponing product launches or downsizing our premium lineup will inevitably be necessary.”
Because Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are so focused on supplying memory for AI products, it will also be interesting to see how the current crisis impacts upcoming gaming products like the Steam Machine. Increasing prices aside, a major hardware delay would be nothing short of a nightmarish scenario for a company like Valve.
Moreover, future console refreshes from a company like Nintendo could be impacted in the long run if the situation continues to stay the same into 2027 and beyond.

AI is going to kill the consumer market. “You will own nothing and be happy” It is a insane future we are heading toward.
Adapt or be left behind.
Are you insane? What do you think will happen when most of the compute power is owned by a few companies? They will sell it back to you just like Nvidia is doing with GeForce Now.
Tech is going to advance whether you like it or not. So, stop whining and adapt to the new world.
AI is a net negative to the world. AI bros need to wake up.
It is a net neg for ppl who don’t want to progress. And do we think just because some ppl don’t like AI every company investing in it will suddenly stop? At this point there is no going back to the old days.
Yeah I use to hear the same argument from crypto bros back in the day. Where are they now? How much money was invested in blockchain by tech companies? All lost. AI is just the latest grift.
Bubble will pop. Cope.
I hear Russians are making their own homemade DRAMs. Time to learn how to do that.
I’m so done with this AI bullshit. These data centers are hoarding all the DRAM for their worthless hype machines, jacking up RAM prices 300% overnight. I can’t even afford to upgrade my rig anymore PC gaming is getting priced out for real gamers. Screw AI!
