The AI crisis has impacted PC gaming in a major way, leading to rising memory across the board. At the same time, graphics cards have also become more expensive, and soon they may be very hard to come by altogether.
Following past reports of Nvidia cutting production for most of its current RTX 50 graphics cards, a new update suggests the tech giant is now doing the same for the RTX 5060.
The popular leaker Moore’s Law is Dead has returned with an update in his latest video. According to his sources, the “RTX 5060 is done for the next six months,” and it is said that this will be the case until Q3 of 2026.
Moore’s Law is Dead claims to have heard the same thing from sources in both distribution and retail. Moreover, a source from an AIB reiterated the sentiment that Nvidia is moving away from the RTX 5060, noting that focusing on the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB is more effective for the company due to using the same GPU die and GDDR7 memory as the RTX 5060.
As per these sources, Nvidia has effectively axed the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, and now the RTX 5060. The company will reportedly reexamine the situation in Q4 of 2026, deciding on whether increasing supply for the RTX 50 series is feasible amid the ongoing AI demand.
Also, one of these sources states that a 30% baseline price hike is on the way for the entire GPU market. It is said that Nvidia is hiking BOM kit prices as a reaction to the current market situation.
Of course, for anybody following current market prices, this doesn’t come as too big a shock, considering how graphics cards like the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti are currently selling well above MSRP.
The bottom line is that graphics cards will only become harder and harder to find as the year progresses. Add to the current situation the matter of rising prices, and gamers have a real problem on their hands, especially for those still looking for a suitable PC upgrade.
