The Halo series was considered groundbreaking for console first-person shooters when it originally debuted in 2001. In addition to its incredible gameplay, elements like the captivating narrative and engrossing soundtrack stood out.
The latter remained a strong suit of the series for many years, owing to the work of composer Marty O’Donnell, who would also go on to work on Destiny in the future. Although the composer is no longer a part of Halo, his recent tweet teases a more collaborative future with the series.

Marty O’Donnell recently took to Twitter and complained about the lack of an invite to the Halo concert scheduled for next year. His latest update on the matter confirms that Halo Studios has indeed invited him to the concert now.
The composer then discussed a potential future where he reunites with the series to celebrate its legacy. In the replies, fans also noted that it would be incredible to hear his work in new games again. Perhaps the composer could even insert some of his charm into the upcoming Halo: Campaign Evolved and the other rumored remakes.
“Maybe we can begin a new era of unity in celebration of the legacy of Halo.” -Marty O’Donnell
Of course, this is easier said than done since Marty O’Donnell has proven to be a controversial figure over the years. Not only did the composer pay legal fees after going against a court’s order and using Destiny assets, but he has also recently taken a step into the world of politics.
This has meant that much of Marty O’Donnell’s original fanbase is not as fond of him today, even if his work on Halo and Destiny remains timeless.
In Halo’s case, the series’ latest entries have lacked memorable soundtracks for a while, so a collaboration between Halo Studios and Marty O’Donnell would certainly be cause for excitement for some. It would also be a natural fit for the series due to the team’s ongoing focus on playing it safe and returning to the IP’s strong legacy.
