With all tech giants now heavily invested in generative AI technology, the online landscape is rapidly evolving. Google, the world’s most popular search engine, now prominently highlights AI results at the top of each search page, attempting to provide a short summary on each subject.
However, these results are hit or miss for now, often making very simple mistakes. A similar mistake was made by Google’s AI Overview when discussing Slither.io, and the team behind the game did not take kindly to this error.

Taking to Twitter, the official Slither.io account shared a screenshot showcasing how the Google AI Overview misrepresents the game when searching for “Slither.io Netflix.”
Google AI Overview states that Slither.io is available on Netflix, but under the name Snake.io Netflix. As the aforementioned screenshot points out, however, this could not be any further from the truth since the company is currently suing the makers of Snake.io.
In a very interesting Twitter post, the Slither.io team referred to Google AI Overview as ‘dollar store off-brand garbage temu walmart AI,’ and if you thought that was a handful, you probably aren’t alone. Of course, the frustration from the team’s side is also understandable here.
“Fix your dollar store off-brand garbage Temu Walmart AI and stop publishing libelous statements about our game.” -Slither.io Team
In the comments, some Twitter users pointed out that the AI results for their Google search correctly identified Snake.io Netflix as a separate game. However, others still saw the AI mix up Snake.io and Slither.io, highlighting just how much work Google still has to do with its AI Overview to produce consistent and reliable results.
As for the lawsuit, the Slither.io team has recently filed a lawsuit against its clone. In particular, the copied concept and logo design have become points of contention when comparing the two titles.
